Phillip - I'm hearing you!
There are some ads Mac have released that don't fully slate PC all the time and focus on their strengths...well, kinda! ;-) The point of the post was how Mac are very creative with their marketing. You have got me thinking about writing another post around this all though re: operating systems.
Check this out though - it will raise your heart rate!

I am either an absolute genius (unlikely) or a complete idiot (extremely likely) because I have been using vista for the last few years and have never had a major problem!

To me, the main problem Vista had was that they took 5ish years to release it and didn't deliver all the stuff they said they would in the early days. It is a much better OS then XP.

The funny thing about it is that this bad rep that Vista had has been the best Marketing ploy for Win7. And when you think about it, if Mac could dint the MS Monopoly with the Bad press that Vista got, how are they going to dint Win7 that has so much good will? Saying look back at Vista aint going to cut it. Why don't Mac talk about their strengths? Macs are good computers if you have a spare arm to pay for them! ;-)

Rich - I totally agree - the more competition, the more a juicer campaign! Bring it on.

Phillip! Love it! You have spun an interesting perspective here and I'm sure many will back your view.

Kristin - ha ha...totally hearing you. Vista was a nightmare yet in saying that mac has had it's problems too. I'm all Mac for their simple and easy functioning systems and quirky ads too!

I love the way these two brands keep such fresh and humorous marketing ads rolling - makes the computing world a whole lot more entertaining I say!

I LOVE this commercial. As a mac user at home and a pc user at work, I'm always a bigger fan of Apple, but this commercial couldn't have done a better job of summing up my years of windows problems.

There very entertaining ads but MS killed them as a Marketing tool when they put out there I'm a PC and not a sterotype ads. From this ad alone, Macs are better why? Are they saying that the latest version of Mac OS will have all the problems of old ones?

As Steve Balmer said, these ads are great for the 3% of users that use Macs.
JMTC
Molly
PS. I am a PC and looking forward to installing Win7 over the weekend (I hope)

I absolutely love the Mac ads and consequently for the last 12 months I have been a Mac user. I do think this type of unique marketing is something special created by a rivalry between two companies, I don't think is unique to Mac however, automotive companies are starting to get to this level of competition in their marketing as the cost of new cars dramatically falls. Bring on the competition I say!
